This is very sad for our community. Pets become stray or are surrendered for various reasons. If you choose to be a good samaritan and pick up a stray it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY from the moment you do so. So have a plan:

• Try to find foster care
• Contact local organizations such as  Monroe animal league  (570-476-8444) or Animal cruelty officer (866-601-spca)
• For purebreds, look to AKC or purebred cat organizations
• Advertise in local newspapers
• Call local veterinarians to alert them and get resources.

PLEASE do not drop animals on your vet’s doorstep. At HVC we do not have the space to house these animals nor the resources to place them.
